Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 5 August 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of IndoAtlantic (the "platform"), including our website, business listings, offers, reviews, and dashboards. By creating an account, publishing content, or otherwise using the platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the platform.
These terms were last updated on 5 August 2026.
2. Our purpose
IndoAtlantic is designed with the intent to connect people and build a strong community — especially newcomers to the Atlantic region — by helping them find the information they need to make settling in easier.
IndoAtlantic is also a medium that helps businesses promote themselves to that community. We provide the directory and the tools; we do not supply the products or services listed on it.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and if you are under 18 you may only use the platform with the consent of a parent or guardian.
You agree to provide accurate, current information when registering and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account and for keeping your password secure. Please tell us straight away if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, is used for fraudulent activity, or is created to impersonate another person or business.
4. Business listings and claims
A business listing must represent a real, operating business, and only someone authorised to act for that business may create or manage its listing.
The business owner is solely responsible for the accuracy of everything shown on their listing, including the name, address, contact details, opening hours, categories, prices, and descriptions.
Where a listing already exists, ownership can be claimed from a business account. We verify claims using the contact details on the listing before transferring control. We may edit, hide, merge, or remove a listing that is inaccurate, duplicated, abandoned, or in breach of these terms.
5. We are not a party to your dealings
IndoAtlantic is a directory and an introduction medium only. We are not a seller, agent, broker, insurer, or party to any transaction.
Any dealing between a user or customer and a business or vendor is solely at the responsibility and discretion of the dealing parties. This includes quotes, bookings, contracts, payments, delivery, workmanship, cancellations, and refunds. Please satisfy yourself about a business — its licences, insurance, credentials, and pricing — before you engage it.
6. Concerns about products or services
Any concern arising from a product or service you have obtained must be raised directly with the business concerned, in line with that business's own policies.
IndoAtlantic has no authority over, and no influence on, any business, its products, its services, its pricing, its warranties, or its policies. We cannot arrange refunds, replacements, compensation, or enforce any commitment a business has made to you.
You are welcome to report a business to us if you believe it is breaching these terms, and you may share your experience through a review.
7. Offers and marketing posts
Offers, promotions, gallery images, and marketing posts are created and published by the business itself. IndoAtlantic has no control over any post made by any business and does not verify or endorse its claims.
The validity dates, conditions, exclusions, and honouring of an offer are entirely the responsibility of the business that published it. Always confirm the details with the business before relying on an offer.
8. Reviews and user content
Reviews must reflect a genuine, first-hand experience. Each user may leave one rating and review per business and may edit or remove their own review at any time. Business owners may post a public response to a review of their listing.
You must not post content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, deceptive, sexually explicit, spam, or that impersonates someone else. You must not offer or accept incentives in exchange for reviews, or post reviews about your own business or a competitor's.
We do not remove reviews simply because a business dislikes them. We may remove content that breaches these terms, and we may act on reports we receive.
9. Your content and the licence you give us
You keep ownership of the text, images, offers, and reviews you publish. By publishing them on IndoAtlantic you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize, display, and promote that content on and in connection with the platform, including on category pages, search results, and our own social channels.
You confirm that you hold the rights to everything you upload and that it does not infringe anyone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy. This licence ends when you remove the content, except for copies already made in backups or where others have shared it.
10. AI-assisted features
Some business tools — including image generation, SEO suggestions, and the business card designer — use AI to produce drafts. Output can be inaccurate, generic, or unsuitable, so you must review it before publishing.
You remain fully responsible for anything you publish from these tools, including its accuracy and any third-party rights it may affect. We may limit or withdraw AI features, or apply fair-use limits to them.
11. Our intellectual property
The IndoAtlantic name, logo, wordmark, site design, layout, and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, or use them without our written permission, except for ordinary, fair reference to our platform.
12. Prohibited use
You agree not to: scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract listings or contact details; use the platform to send unsolicited marketing; post fake reviews or manipulate ratings; upload malware; attempt to breach, probe, or reverse engineer the platform or another account; interfere with the service; or use the platform for anything unlawful.
13. Third-party services and links
The platform includes third-party services and links, such as maps, app stores, payment or messaging tools, and business websites. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
14. Availability and accuracy
The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, and we may change, suspend, or withdraw features at any time.
While we work to keep the directory useful, we do not warrant that any listing, offer, rating, distance, map location, or contact detail is accurate, complete, or current. We also make no promise about the results a business will get from listing with us.
15. Limitation of liability and indemnity
To the maximum extent permitted by law, IndoAtlantic and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the platform.
In particular, we are not liable for loss arising from any dealing with a business found through the platform, from reliance on information in a listing or offer, or from content published by users. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer protection law.
You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from content you publish or from your breach of these terms.
16. Privacy
How we collect and use personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Remember that anything you put on a public listing or review — including a phone number, email address, or photo — is visible to everyone.
17. Ending your use of the platform
You may stop using the platform at any time and delete your account from your account menu. Deleting a business account also removes its listing, gallery, and offers, and cannot be undone.
We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached, where a listing is fraudulent, or where required by law. Some content, such as records we must keep, may remain in our systems after deletion.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date on this page, and where the change is significant we will make a reasonable effort to notify account holders. Continuing to use the platform after an update means you accept the revised terms.
19. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Nova Scotia have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting consumer rights you may have in your own province.
20. Contact us
Questions about these terms, or a report about content or a business, can be sent to connect@indoatlantic.ca or submitted through our contact page.
